Day Trip Tuesday: Paddy's Markets, for All of Your Conterfieit Needs

Paddy's Market is a bizzarre-style market in the China town district of Sydney. It is THE place to go for souvineers, ranging from koala keychains (necessary) to kangaroo ballsack bottle openers (popular) to affordable t-shirts for your whole family (Merry Christmas).

Wait did I mention

that they have

T-shirts?

??????

They also have enough butterfly hairclips to give your manbun a panic attack

Oh, and do you need some glitter for your glitter? How about a 6 ft flurry pillow to offset your feather boa drapes?

Apparently you're supposed to haggle when you go, but like a chump I didn't try. Haggling always seems so offensive. If the man wanted to sell you a t-shirt for less than $10, he would put that on a the sign, right? Just give them your money. Who has the time to haggle, anyway? I have other things to do today, you know.

Australians love to hold costume parties, maybe because they lack Halloween, but maybe because costumes make you want to drink more. They also call costumes "fancy dress," and Paddy's is a great place to visit if you're called upon to show up to a gathering dresed like a a construction worker, sexy tree frog, or Santa. I probably would have packed differently had I known costumes = fun down here.

There is no way someone is wearing this to a party with kids

Australians also love Uggs! Maybe because they look like Kangaroo feet, I don't know. You can buy them here, and at discount prices. Ideal for those who don't *need* thier shoes to match.

Paddy's also has a toy section, which is perfect if you have kids who you love a lot but not like, name brand love.

"Train & friends"

"Happy girl/ Let's happy every day/ Enjoy the new fashion, experience a new feeling"

"Freeze!"

Finally, Paddy's opens into a giant asian market with fish and lots of very nice looking fresh produce for cheap. This would actually be a decent place to shop regularly if you live in the vicinity of Chinatown and eat lots of vegetables. It is also set below an Aldi supermarket with a large Asian food section.

I also found this little guy hiding under a table! He sure knows how to haggle... WITH MY HEART

I ended up purchasing three t-shirts, several plastic doohickeys, a magnet, three pairs of Australian-Christmas themed socks, a new phone charger, and a bag of apples. Worth it.
